Vessel cylinder

In this thinly turned vessel, made of walnut, it is possible to witness the very unusual occurrence of dark heartwood pushing through light sapwood towards the bark. The vessel was worked while it was green wood. The growth-related tensions in the wood cause an organic deformation of the cylinder during the drying process. The resulting openings are cross-stitched with 18 carat gold wire.
