Jody Loarning’s sculpture was crafted from driftwood collected from the coastal environment of Western Australia and is intended to be a spirit house for her great-great-great-grandmother, Mary Smith, who was killed by her husband in an act of domestic violence in the early settler colony of Augusta, Talinup.
