Unearthed Structure

To make this chair walnut wood has been bent and built up into a free flowing shape, then carved back to create an organic undulating surface of growths as if a more refined structure had been reclaimed by nature through decomposition. The piece was hand carved using traditional Japanese files, rasps and gouge chisels.
