Deserter

Like all the works from Cathy's “Figures” series, Deserter confronts a kitsch factory-made figure with an abstract handcrafted form. This is the first of the series that preserves the original colours of the found object. Man's best friend, the dog, is used as a metaphor for soldiers. This amusing association depicts the absurdity of the world by embodying rebellion through the figure of the deserter.
