Balance

This teetering sculpture is made of black clay and was built from narrow, thin strips of clay and small bricks. It looks like a curved, closed ribbon. Zsófia Karsai left gaps between the tiny bricks at the top of the sculpture, those bricks are alternating colours of black and blue. The resulting openwork, chequered surface gives the effect as if this part of the sculpture was moving. Thus, the wobbliness and the seemingly mobile upper part of the sculpture dissolve its static nature.
