This hand-thrown and perforated sculptural vase was inspired by imagery and properties of ice. A structure was shaped with a saw blade before adding black slip. The structure allows the glaze to “pull” the black colour, and a thick glaze makes glass drops appear at the bottom. Red hues were created with a burnt reduction with a bit of red “Oxblood” glaze.
