Poppy tea cups (Zebra, Vibe & Giraffe)

These teacups are hand cast from white clay, fired at 1,030°C and painted with black, red and transparent glazes. It takes four firings to complete each cup. Nataša Kabalin uses casting because she likes to make the cups as thin as possible, and as a result they resemble porcelain. This series was made during the first Covid-19 lockdown in March-June 2020 and was inspired by the mixed emotions during this strange time.
