Lamp maker Helena Imaginário based in Portugal & Chinese fellow O33
Lamp maker Helena was a conservator and restorer for over 20 years, and taught herself lamp making during the Covid lockdown. She crafts one-of-a-kind handwoven lampshades in hand dyed natural fibres and distinctive geometrical shapes, reinforcing the importance of patience and know-how in the face of the rise of new technologies.
Textile sculptor O33, from Inner Mongolia, is a PhD candidate at Kanazawa College of Art in Japan. She works primarily with sheep intestines (used in Mongolia to preserve food), a material that is flexible, resilient and organic, while also creating a bridge between her cultural heritage and contemporary art.
