Learn to make surface textures for ceramics in Hamburg

with Nana König

Ceramic surface design techniques over 3 days

Join Nana König in this weekend intensive course on surface design techniques focusing on designing plastic and relief-like surfaces. This workshop is divided into three sessions, each lasting four hours. You will learn to layer slip or porcelain sheets, and handle clay plates using a variety of tools. By doing so, you will be able to create a surface structure that is unique to you. Coloured engobes bring colour into your creation or can be used for additional effects. A variety of interesting design approaches emerge during the course, which you can apply to a cylindrical vessel on the second day. Small murals, tiles and coasters can be made from the designed panels. Two or three weeks later, you will arrange to meet wit Nana to finalise your piece with oxide pencils, underglaze and glaze colours. Please note that this workshop is taught in German.
