Hands-on initiation to four-shaft loom weaving in Berlin

with Julia Buntzel & Miriam Rose Gronwald

An artistic, practice-led approach to hand-weaving

Come weave with Julia Buntzel and Miriam Gronwald, at Studio JUMI and dive into the art of weaving. In this workshop, you will sketch your own textile samples by experimenting with colour, material and texture on a four-shaft pattern loom. This course is inspired by textile artists such as Anni Albers, Gunta Stölzl and Sheila Hicks, who combined the craft of hand weaving with the language of modern art. Julia and Miriam will get you tuned in with the mechanics and rhythm of the loom, as well as help you transform your ideas into little handwoven sketches. There will be five different pattern looms for you to try out and experiment with. At the end of the class all participants can take home their textile design sketches. Please note that this experience is designed for all levels and costs 105 EUR per person.
