Basketweaving studio visit in Fúquene

During the tour of the Artesanías El Laurel workshop, visitors will observe craft demonstrations, as well as participate in the process of handmaking products. They will learn how the moulds for baskets are made and how the fibres are woven around it. Dora Flor Alba Briceño will also talk about the Fúquene lagoon which is the supplier of reeds to the workshop. During the visit, Dora Flor will explain the roots of her basketweaving tradition and how, through different training and support from various institutions, she managed to pursue this craft at national and international levels. Visitors will also be able to try making their own reed creation.
