For over 100 years, the Squillace family has been dedicated to the artisanal production of gloves at Omega Gloves. Founded in Naples in 1923 by Pasquale Squillace, the manufacturer is now recognised throughout the world. Master glover Alberto, representing the fifth generation, currently leads Omega, which is heir to an extraordinary tradition that has its roots in the times of Ancient Rome. Today, every stage of the handmaking is overseen by the Squillace family, from the leather treatment to the creation of the pieces. After the careful selection of the hides by Alberto come 25 other stages, including cutting and sewing, which are performed by specialised masters in the atelier located in Naples' old glove-making district.
Omega Gloves has been able to enhance the techniques inherited from the Neapolitan savoir-faire by offering its excellence to international markets. Each pair of gloves is handmade by a team of specialised craftspeople. "The experience of our craftspeople is crucial and precious, and in many cases is built over a lifetime,” explains Alberto. Open to the public, the place stands out for its warm hospitality, welcoming anyone interested to experience firsthand how the process unfolds. The choice of high quality leather, silk and cashmere, in addition to the attention to every single detail, have earned the workshop the attention of the biggest high fashion houses.
