Established in 1898, every piece of earthenware made at the Faïencerie Georges workshop since 1908 has been marked with 'deux nœuds verts', French for ‘two green knots’. Now in its fourth generation, the workshop is led by Carole Georges, the founder’s great-granddaughter, and Jean-François Dumont since 2010. The atelier specialises in reviving classic tableware designs by introducing contemporary motifs and forms to the traditional techniques associated with the renowned Nevers faïence style. At Faïencerie Georges, each piece undergoes a set of meticulous processes, from shaping the clay to glazing, decorating on raw glaze, and high-firing.
Creations from Faïencerie Georges blend tradition with modernity, and are infused with love, poetry and a hint of playful humour. The workshop’s motifs capture daily life, such as skiers, surfers, beach scenes, sea creatures, jellyfish and animal portraits. The team often collaborates with designers and artists, including three Michelin starred chef Alain Ducasse. Faïencerie Georges also has a dedicated space at Galeries Lafayette in Paris and is the proud owner of the Living Heritage Company label.
