Eugenia Pinna grew up and lives in Nule, a Sardinian village with an ancient wool weaving tradition. After training as a designer at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Cagliari, she decided to open her atelier to create textiles and works combining ancient techniques with modern style. The rugs, blankets, tapestries and decorative panels made in the workshop are characterised by geometric patterns and vibrant colours. The team uses only natural materials, and research leads them to continuously develop new combinations, including with unusual materials such as twine, chenille, or viscose interwoven with wool.
After many years of passionate researching and studying, Eugenia committed to preserve and pass on this know-how, especially to new generations. Her first teaching experience was a course for young children, held at a nursery school in Cagliari in 1993, followed by many courses for public and private institutions and professional organisations. She has also taken part in festivals and cultural events to showcase her craft. In 2011, the atelier began collaborating with Tessere Incontri, a Milan-based association devoted to weaving and natural dyeing. Some of the works produced during this initiative are housed in Spazio Ilisso, an artistic museum in Nuoro.
