The activity of the workshop Taller de Organería Joaquín Lois Cabello is devoted to pipe organ building and restoration. It all began in 1972 with Joaquín Lois Cabello. Since 1985 it is located in Torsedillas, Valladolid, in the heart of Castille, an area that counts several baroque organs. Whether in the building process or restoring, the activity of the workshop focuses on research, implementation and recovery of traditional techniques. The instrument is seen as a whole in the painstaking construction of all its parts, from the metal and wooden pipes, to the mechanics and all types of ornamentation.
In over 50 years of activity, Joaquín and his team have built and restored organs in different regions of Spain, Europe and Latin America, passion and skills driving their work. Cultural heritage and vision, preserving knowledge and channelling it into the future are their mantra. Their project called Clarín is aimed at making instruments available outside of Spain, for the study and performance of Iberian organ music.
