Marble as the meeting point

On Entropy, run by sisters Niki and Zoe Moskofoglou, invites visitors to experience marble. Founded in 2011, the Athens-based studio explores the potential of this Greek material through contemporary design. Lights, furnishings or accessories, the handcrafted creations subtly unveil the contrasting qualities of marble: its transparency and heaviness, its warmth and rigidity, its lightness. On Entropy's approach focuses on the way people experience the object.

Their reflection deepens, beyond the item, on the space consciousness. The sisters' affinity for marble stems from their childhood: raised in a family where marble was part of their background, they often visited marble quarries with their father. Following different career paths – Niki worked as an architect and Zoe is a civil engineer – they partnered with On Entropy to develop their perception of marble and challenge the limits of its craft. The studio mainly collaborates with architects and interior designers on bespoke pieces.

Athens: the birthplace of the amphora
1 location
Athens and craftsmanship have always gone hand in hand. In an environment where the city nurtures artistic experimentation, ancient Greek artisans created the first amphorae – storing jars made of ceramics, metal and stone. On our itinerary you will find ceramicists and silversmiths who imitate classical techniques, while modernising the shape and form of this ancient vessel.
