After wanting to learn a more hands-on craft than Graphic Design, Laure Kasiers enrolled in Textile Design. She made her first rug over ten years ago when she was expecting her first child. As she had to work a lot from home, she developed her own technique to create innovative surfaces and ended up creating three prototypes for her graduation. Ever since her initial introduction to textiles, Laure has always concentrated on thick and dense material – fit for upholstery rather than lace. The idea of creating a textile that was the object in itself and not a textile that will be incorporated into another object was central. Since then, inspired by natural shapes, patterns, structures and colours, she has created a variety of rugs and tapestry.
