Csenge Győrbíró

Textile creator

A synthesis of art, nature and technology

  • Csenge crafts unique floral collages with a natural look, feel and scent
  • Her products are waterproof, durable and made from natural materials
  • Her craft allows endless possibilities for wall art, home décor and even fashion

Csenge Győrbíró studied textiles at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, graduating in 2020. In the same year, she stopped by the booth of the Austrian company Organoid at a trade show, where she discovered a special technology to create products decorated with natural materials such as flowers, moss and leaves. She started working at the company in product development and design, and later returned to Budapest to work on her own creations using a similar technology. In addition to floral mosaics and wall decoration such as wallpaper, Csenge is constantly exploring new forms and functions, such as fashion accessories and furniture, all of which preserve the touch and scent of their natural elements.

What attracted you to this sustainable approach to textiles?
It was my six-month Erasmus placing in Poland that really opened my eyes. We experimented with novel approaches to manufacturing textiles using unusual materials such as banana skins and that inspired me to look for similar opportunities.
What is it like to work with such a unique medium?
The technology was originally developed for use in manufacturing wallpaper, so it is waterproof and durable in addition to being made from attractive natural materials. This fusion of the functional and the natural means the possibilities are endless.
What possibilities interest you in particular?
I enjoy working with natural materials, but I am also inspired by the interaction between design, society, industry and environment. I like finding unexpected links and associations in seemingly unattractive industrial processes.
How does this fit in with your floral designs?
The technology I use allows the colours and textures of plants to be preserved and recast into new organic forms that are also highly functional. This reflects my desire to challenge our consumerist society with new and sustainable interior design products.
